Back when this item was announced I immediately flagged it as the spiritual successor to the redoubtable Sengoku Cannon Koyori, coming as it does from Megahouse’s Department of Shameless PVC Erotica – err, “Excellent Model Core” division. Who is Machiko-sensei, why should you care, and more importantly, is she wearing any? Read on!

Machiko-sensei as envisioned here by Kawano Sachiko (the character designer for Super Robot Wars) is a far cry from her original 1980 Ebihara Takeshi incarnation, but the “maicching!” pose and general ecchiness remain unchanged. Why ressurect a 26-year old shounen manga heroine now? The new raft of movies probably have something to do with it, the most recent of which was out on February 22nd; who knew the raunchy borderline-sex comedy genre was so alive and… er… kicking? The movies look terrible, but I won’t complain too much if they keep inspiring figures like this.
The big question going into this release was haitteruka (is she wearing them)? None of the promotional shots ever provided a view that would definitively resolve the issue, but I think we can now consider it settled (if the 15+ age rating on the box didn’t give it away). This is fine by me, but pulling her down from a perfect 10 are a few minor blemishes beneath the skirt (one on the hip and one on the front of the thigh), along with the slightly pronounced seams visible there that are a bit too severe for comfort. Otherwise, a great figure all around – dynamic pose, solid design and execution. Maicching!
