In today’s update: Brave Story games, Morning Musume member voices the lead in Kirarin Revolution, you can illustrate the Leaf Fight TCG, Magna Carta, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest for the PSP, the next Ar Tonelico?, Weekly Web Radio Roundup, Les Mis meets bishoujorama, Alice Soft puts a complete eroge from their backlog up for free download, Valis Cross pricing details, and figure news of the day.
Media Side
- The Brave Story film currently in production from Gonzo / Fuji TV / Warner Bros. has recently been augmented by hype (and more hype) over tie-in games to be released this summer for the PS2, PSP, and DS. The film itself is scheduled to hit silver screens in July.
- Those who enjoyed the original Junjou de Karen Spectral Force game that came out for the Playstation back in 1999 will be happy to see the game’s cast appearing in a reprise role in Spectral Force 3 ~Innocent Rage~ coming in April for the Xbox 360.
- TV anime Kirarin Revolution will launch on April 7th, with the main character (Kirari) voiced by Kusumi Koharu of Morning Musume fame. She’s a bit too cute to be a quality voice actress, I’m afraid (never mind that she’s only 13 years old).
- Hobby Channel notes the contest currently open to have your illustration featured on a card in Aquaplus’s Leaf Fight TCG. Might be worth looking into if you have an unused piece of Comic Party fanart just laying around…
- I confess I don’t entirely understand the latest Merokomi webcomic installment from Melon Books.
- In today’s PSP corner, Squeenix combines Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable, a digital board game set for release on May 25th. Also seeing the light on May 25th is Magna Carta Portable, a port of the original Kim Hyung-tae designed PS2 game from Softmax (promo movie available here).
- Atelier Iris Grand Fantasm: the next Ar Tonelico? Seems like that’s the implication, though not necessarily a bad thing; could always use another RPG with awesome music to pine over.
- Yoshinaga-san Uchi no Gargoyle updates its Characters page today, and launches an Avex Mode page with a rather impressive splash image.
- Avex Mode has an official page up for Cream Lemon New Generation, and it’s looking as uninspired as ever.
- The first volume of the Shinigami no Ballad manga is now on sale, and the anime’s official site is now taking email submissions to be read on the April 14th launch of its web radio program.
- The Joshikousei TV anime gets an official broadcast launch date of April 3rd.
- Weekly Web Radio Roundup
- A more thorough look at Starfish’s Kouenji Joshi Soccer AVG is online today, courtesy of Gpara.com. Gpara also scoops Princess Soft’s Hokenshitsu he Youkoso, aka the most brain-meltingly pastel game ever.
- AV Watch brings more Strawberry Panic news today, along with two nice pieces of promotional art.
- Evangelion’s Girlfriend of Steel AVG is being rereleased on March 30th in a 10th anniversary PS2 edition, complete new scenes and a new possible ending.
- The second season of Ah! My Goddess TV has a new subtitle: “Sorezore no Tsubasa” (trans: “their various wings”).
- Spend summer vacation with Ayumi in the CD-ROM extra that comes with the release of Shuffle! vol. 6 (R2).
- The Air TV anime website is still introducing new characters from the show. “Characters”, really.
- What happens when the world of bishoujo games is placed into a particle accellerator directly targeting a production of Les Miserables? Sound Horizon’s live concert DVD, that’s what. Watch the promo video, but vacate your bowels first.
Ero Side
- Alice Soft was hardly hurting for good karma, but they’ve secured a place in fan’s affections today by releasing an entire, unedited eroge for free download. Shimaima was originally released as part of the Alice no Yakata 7 pack of games and bonus discs, but seems to be no less the full-fledged game for it. Why release it this way now? Two reasons: first, the original pack is out of print, and second, it’s great advertising for their upcoming Yokubari Saboten, billed as having a similar “feel” to Shimaima. Just goes to show that you don’t have to be evil to make shrewd marketing decisions.
- Speaking of evil, shrewd marketing decisions, it turns out that installments of Valis Cross will be priced at 2,940 yen each, considerably higher than I speculated yesterday. I’m now curious as to the amount of content to be included in each of the five chunks of game, as a monthly release schedule will hardly grant the time necessary to produce 2,940 yen worth of material (at going eroge rates, at least). Perhaps the series has been in development longer than a standard game…
- In today’s obligatory Type Moon scoop, a remix album of Fate music entitled Fate / another score -super remix tracks- will go on sale March 23rd.
