In today’s update: a new fantasy anime on the horizon, maids, dragons and lap pillows OH MY, angry kunoichi, comiket terrists, and the scoopage of Max Factory / Goodsmile / Alter / Toys Planning’s March 2006 PVC figure lineup.

Media Side

  • According to a PDF somewhere on this page, Ogiwara Noriko‘s serial novel Nishi no Yoki Majo (“The Good Witch of the West”) is scheduled to become an anime in spring 2006. According to her homepage it was serialized between 1997 and 2000, then released across five volumes and three “gaiden” volumes between 2001 and 2002, finally seeing a paperback release in ’04. She lists Tolkien, Patricia McKillip and C.S. Lewis among her influences, so it’s certain we’re in for fantasy of some sort… if I have time later today I’ll try to wade through some of the book synopses to get a better idea, but after a rather long dry spell it should be fun to see another fantasy show of any type hit the airwaves.
  • Clamp has some details up on its official site regarding the April 2006 launch of its XXXHOLiC TV series; appparently it will air on TBS and is being developed by Production I.G.
  • In web radio news, Paniponi Dashes, as does Yomigaeru Sora Rescue Wings.
  • An artbook for Gin-iro no Kami no Agito will go on sale January 5th, 2006, two days before the film opens in theaters.
  • Bandai scoops the complete lineup of its anime series currently available for paid download (105 yen per episode) at Portable TV. Hopping over to the P-TV site it seems that Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo, Gunparade Orchestra and Amaenaideyo! have been added as well.
  • From the Akiba-kei department: Maids? Maids! Lap pillows? Lap pillows! Dragons? Dragons!

Hobby Side

  • Leading today’s hobby news is the announcement of Toys Planning / Goodsmile / Alter / Max Factory’s March 2006 lineup:
    • Toys Planning’s 1/6 scale Morisaki Nao PVC from Soul Link
    • Goodsmile’s Naado (Nard)-tan PVC, the mascot of Akiba Blog
    • Max Factory’s 1/7 scale Etna PVC from Disgaea
    • Alter’s 1/8 scale Aries PVC from Makai Tenshi Jibril 2
    • Alter’s 1/7 scale Garnet PVC from Rumble Fish

Of those five the Garnet is the only kneejerk purchase for me, but Etna / Aries / POP fans will certainly be happy with the rest. Those interested can find higher-res pictures linked over at Figure Alternative.

  • On sale later this month will be Musashiya’s painfully contorted Ryomo ver. 3 cold cast from Ikkitousen. I don’t think the human torso was meant to stretch quite that far…
  • The few. The proud. The diary update. Jie-tan tries to tell us the Maritan Comiket 69 booth location, but Maritan steps in and stops her with the claim that COMIKET IS A HAVEN FOR TERRISTS. Navy-tan disabuses her of this notion, telling her that the Comiket staff is quite vigilant, and proceeds to inform the readership that they wil be in booth 355, just on the right-hand side as you enter the dealer’s area.
  • Late-breaking scoop from Moetry: samples of Kotobukiya’s Konomi PVC from To Heart 2 are out and about, with the actual item set to come out later this month.

Seriously, what terrorist would be stupid enough to mess with Maritan?
