In today’s update: new anime scoops, new novel scoops that may eventually become anime, old anime that has become a new novel scoop, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Media Side
- The official Kage Kara Mamoru! anime site has been newly reopened, and purely from the character designs I’ll go out on a limb and say that this will be a fun series to keep track of come January.
- Fami-Navi notes that the “super popular” comic Ray, penned by Akihito Yoshitomi, will be animefied come spring 2006. I’d recommend checking out the his site for some quality examples of the artwork we can expect in the series, which shows some interesting prospects.
- Random Game Notes
- Alchemist’s Haru no Ashioto -Step of Spring- site launch
- Idea Factory’s Blazing Souls demo movie online
- Dengeki Online scoops Banpresto’s Ar Tonelico
- Idol Master 3rd music CD released on November 30th

- Novel Corner
- Famitsu Bunko’s Chou-Imouto Taisen Sismageddon (“Altimet[sic] Sister in Great War”) vol. 1 is slated for a December 24th release. Is it just me, or does this have “anime” written all over it? Perhaps just wishful thinking… if you’re well-versed in Japanese (or are in the mood for some quality wwwjdic time) you can check out the novel’s first chapter here. [other recent Famitsu Bunko releases]
- A novelization of Makoto Shinkai’s Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho has been announced for release on December 26th. A second glance at the announcement’s URL makes one wonder if he isn’t targeting a certain committee in Sweden with the intent of joining the ranks of Kenzaburo Oe and Yasunari Kawabata. Or maybe it’s just Engrish.
- Information on the contents of the most recent (November 25th) issue of Majikyuu is online, reminding defectors from Dengeki Moeoh what they’ll have to look forward to once the latter meets its untimely demise on December 26th. ;_;
- Info on January’s Megami Magazine (released yesterday, November 30th) is online, and unless you want the Fate-chan drama CD or the solitary Fate / stay night poster, at 950 yen I’d recommend giving this one a miss.
- Telecom has updated its Kore ga Animation no Oshigoto da!! feature with information on the photography process, just three steps away from completion. Based solely on the pictures it seems this step involves programming the digital panning of various “cels”.
- The world of portable media has gotten a bit wider with the introduction of P-TV, a legal way to get TV shows and anime onto your PSP. Bandai supports it, as does Kamichu! (a no-brainer, given the Sony affiliation).
Ero Side
- Galge.com scoops the 8 eroge titles on sale tomorrow, December 2nd. Chief among them is certainly Puzzlebox’s Niizuma wa Sailor-fuku, thanks to its INO designs and bearded protagonist.
- Three of Underlip‘s earlier titles recieved package releases on November 25th, along with the download-only release of Haitoku Kyoudai Soukan.

Hobby Side
- [ERO] The January edition of Pasokon Paradise came out a couple of days ago with a rather ero PVC bust included. It might be a tempting purchase if a) it was the whole figure (the lower half costs another 2,800 yen via mail order), b) the mouth wasn’t quite so awkwardly low on the face, and c) it wasn’t just a gimmick to get people to switch from the vastly superior Tech Gian. Amazon has it here, for those interested.
- In the “ripped off from Akibajin” department today we have reviews of Max Factory’s leaf bikini Naru PVC and Megahouse’s Taruho PVC from Eureka Seven. Love her or hate her, that Naru is quite a piece of work…
Recent acquisitions: Toshiue no Kanojo vol. 3 and mai waifu.
