Media Side

  • Today’s leading scoop is the announcement and official site pre-open of Renkin Sankyuu Majikaru? Poka~n (henceforth referred to as Majipoka), an anime tentatively scheduled to air next spring. A companion manga will be launched in next month’s issue of Dengeki Daioh (the February 2006 issue, on sale December 21st). This has me pretty excited, as the designs are immediately recognizable as the work of Hirata Kashizou, the creative force behind Hand Maid May, Cosplay Complex and G-on Riders, not to mention one of the Queen’s Blade books slated for release next month. We’re long overdue for another show featuring his particular brand of brazen fanservice.
  • Akiba Blog documents Sofmap’s November 26th Moegaku promotion, which involved playing rock paper scissors (jan ken pon) with a cosplayer to win FABULOUS PRIZES. What this all has to do with English language education I’m not quite sure. [official Moegaku site]

Ero Side

  • A trial version of Casino’s Time Capsule “Haru” is available for download on the game’s official site.
  • PeasSoft has a page up for its slate of Comiket 69 goods. The event opens a month from tomorrow… it’s been awhile since I’ve had something to count down to here, maybe I’ll make a crappy banner or something.

Hobby Side

  • Akibajin and Akiba Blog both report on a display version up in Sofmap of Konami’s 60-cm bikini-clad Asuna soft vinyl figure from Mahou Sensei Negima, which can be yours next March for a mere $250 USD.
  • Konami also has a 1/6 scale Hinomoto Reiko polystone from Rumble Roses sitting in the same display case, though somewhat dwarfed; Akibajin scoops her as well. (May 26th 2006 release, 15,000 yen)
  • The Clayz Matsuri took place over this weekend, and Akibajin reports with some of the fallout:
    • Samples were on display of this triad of maids from He is My Master, which will see a PVC release come February. Needless to say, !!!.
    • Also fresh from China was this sample of a Sukumizu Pettan figure, set to be released at Comiket 69 (December 29th and 30th, for those who can’t be arsed to do the math from earlier in the post).
  • In further unabashed Akibajin cloning we have these samples of Tomy’s upcoming Tetsudou Musume figures and this review of Solid Theater’s [ERO] Takagai Minami (limited edition white swimsuit ver.) from Yuuguu Settai #.

I wound up spending yesterday wrestling with Japanese instead of writing manga reviews. Alas. They should be coming soon…
