In today’s update: NHK ANIME ANNOUNCED (see previous post), a Rean no Tsubasa trailer, several new eroge scoops, Nanase Ren is seeing double, a Tetsudou Musume lowdown and the opportunity to preorder Hobby Japan’s Queen’s Blade books domestically from Flying Buffalo. Hop on it, lads.

Media Side

  • A trailer is online for Rean no Tsubasa, the OVA slated to stream on Bandai Channel starting December 16th. The show itself looks pretty cool, but if I were to pay for a streamed broadcast it would have to be better quality than the 1Mbps version of the trailer.

Ero Side

Hobby Side

  • As far as I can tell, Tetsudou Musume is a set of original trading figures by Tomy based loosely around the theme of cute girls and trains. Their November release date means they should be out pretty darn soon, so keep your eyes open if you are a train fan or a cute girl fan (although I have to say the design art looks a fair sight better than the sample figures do). This won’t be the last we see of them; Hobby Channel reports that a second series is in the works, with the two characters depicted at its helm.
  • Speaking of November releases, Hobby Channel has a reminder that the first two volumes of the Queen’s Blade series of game books will be out on the 25th. I wonder what the folks over at Flying Buffalo are thinking about this… [UPDATE] it seems that the books are available for order on the Flying Buffalo site at prices comparable to those offered by Hobby Japan, so no import hassle for the American readers, and they’ll be posting translations of the combat instructions on their site when the books are released. Sounds like a good deal to me.
  • The Evangelion Store has been pre-opened, and is featuring a special blue-eyed version of this Rei / Lilith angel PVC figure. It seems Gainax has finally decided to cut out the middleman and create a direct line between the seemingly bottomless wallets of Eva fanboys and their own corporate glucose-saturated bloodstream; more power to them. In moments of insanity I’ve pondered the thought of starting a Rei / Asuka figure collection, simply because there are so many of them out there; then I slam blunt objects against my forehead and it goes away.
  • The March 2006 release announcement of this Petopeto-san figure collection from Happynet Robin rounds out today’s news. If there was ever a property worthy of chibification, this would be it; I’m not convinced from the sample image that Happinet will do it justice, but we’ll see.

Hobby Japan’s He is my Master Izumi came in yesterday evening, and is generally satisfactory; I will try to get a picture post in later today.
