Anime Side

  • From the creator of Dokkoider: Achi Taro’s Kage Kara Mamoru! series of novels is set to become an anime, according to this post on Madara Sai’s blog. It seems she’ll be the character designer…?
  • The official site for Bandai’s upcoming Yomigaeru Sora: Rescue Wings is online. This one is definitely looking interesting, if only for its vague similarity to Planetes.

Figure Side

Lately I’ve felt that HD has been in something of a holding pattern. While they take time to put together, these daily updates are seductively easy; hit up Moon Phase, a couple of online shops and blogs, and voila. Not a lot of brain power involved, and as a result, not a lot of interesting original content. Part of the reason for this is the behemoth project embarked on in September to provide a “life, the universe and everything” -style definition of moe, which has been sucking in a fair portion of my creative energy for the past two months. It’s almost to the point where I’m going to have to post it, completed or not, just to get the damn thing off my back and move on to other projects. Things still hanging over my head from this summer include a partially completed review of Shichinin no Online Gamers and Jingai Makyou, the How to Comiket feature, and a writeup on the “test your otakuness” quiz featured in Elfics a few months ago. I still intend to get these all out the door eventually, but first, moe. Hopefully I’ll be able to cough it up some time this week.

On an unrelated note, I’ve recently become a bit more active over at Mixi, a Japanese net-based community building service. By “active” I mean “occasionally check my account”, but if you read this and feel like friending up (or whatever the appropriate verb would be) drop me a line.
