My new computer arrived on Monday night. It’s an Athlon 64 3500+ with a gig of ram, a 200 gig hard drive and a Radeon 9600 that I’ll be eventually replacing with something with a bit more oomph. I’m generally pleased with its performance so far, but I can’t yet use it for what I really bought it for – grabbing raws and acting as a surrogate TV, playing current-gen games and doing some serious video and audio work. For now it’s a good base to upgrade from, but what I really need to start is a desk – it’s sitting on a coffee table in my room right now with the keyboard and mouse on the floor. Eventually I’ll have money again with which to purchase such things.

The new season continues to perform with Yakitate’s strong opening and the second episodes of School Rumble, Tsukuyomi, and Sunabouzu (now with hot Mechazawa/Onsokumaru action). Mai Hime is rather boring, unfortunately, but we’ll see what happens. It’s something to watch on the weekends at least. Tonight is the premiere episode of Grenadier, the last new show of the season. It’s girls with guns so I’m not expecting miracles, but it may be at least watchable.

With a little help from n0 I managed to get Winny up and running yesterday. Hopefully it will provide suitable rawage now that l33t-raws is no longer at all consistent on that front. Also, I finished reading the first volume of Welcome to NHK a couple of days ago. It is truely a great Japanese comic. I’m thinking of starting to pick up the magazine it’s serialized in, Shounen Ace A, which also contains many other good comics and the anomaly of full furigana.
